Day 256 (T, 110913) — First World Fitness Problems

Ever Have One of These?  The other day, Mrs. New John sent me a hilarious link about First World Problems.  A couple of them mention food or exercise, including:

First World Treadmill ProblemHair and ExerciseIt lead me to thinking about the inanity of some of the stress I allow into my life.

Here’s my list of some of my First World Diet and Exercise Problems* . . .

  1. The GPS is out on my smartphone.  How will I know how far I’ve run?
  2. The high-tech running shirt I bought still chafes my . . . um . . . hide.
  3. I had to buy three hamburgers so I could throw away the buns and still have enough to eat.
  4. The pull-up bar I bought doesn’t fit over my door jamb correctly.  Now I have to go to the gym.
  5. It’s time to run but my MP3 player battery is dead. How will I know how fast to go?
  6. My Internet connection is down.  Now I have to use my phone’s stopwatch app instead of the preset timer on the workout’s website!
  7. There’s too much steak in my fridge.  I’ll have to eat it for several meals in a row.
  8. Starbucks doesn’t open until 5:30 on Saturday.  Now I have to run a different route so I don’t arrive to early to get my double-espresso.

Got any of your own “First World Problems” related to diet and exercise to share?

  1. For some reason, Pandora will no longer play on my Droid when I pull up the Youtube video of the preset workout timer!

The GPS function on Runkeeper takes too long to activate in the morning, throwing off my distance calculations!

  2. I’m 3 weeks late on commenting on this…but I just spent 4 weeks in the third world, and it certainly gives you a fresh perspective. Upon our return, our automatic garage door opener wasn’t working. Our garage is already twice the square footage of a lot of homes I saw down there, plus it’s fully insulated, has a furnace, electricity, AND a friggin’ automatic garage door opener! Our ‘car domocile’ is more suitable for human habitation than MANY homes I saw there.
